Date Night Little Black Dress with Tobi
There’s nothing that screams “date night” more than a little black dress. It’s a piece that looks great on everyone, and is super easy to dress up. I’ve styled this date night little black dress for a summer date, since it is hot, hot, HOT in Los Angeles right now! I’m keeping the accessories simple for this little black dress, because I don’t want them to take away from all the stunning details of the dress!

Let’s be honest, life is so busy. I am constantly searching for more hours in the day, more time to get everything done. Sometimes I’m so busy rushing around that I have to pick and choose what gets done, because not everything can be done! One thing I never sacrifice is spending quality time with the people who are really important to me. I once heard someone say that no matter how busy people are, they make time for the things that are really important to them. For me, it’s so important to spend time with my friends, my family and my boyfriend. They are the people that make my world spin, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
I’ve been running around like a madwoman lately; working so many jobs and running the blog. I thought it would be nice to take a step back for a minute and plan out a date night outfit for a fancy evening with my boyfriend. Tobi sent me this Ellie Off The Shoulder Dress, which is perfect for the occasion. They’ve got a great selection of summer dresses to choose from (which you can view here), but as soon as I saw this one, I was in love.
I love that this little black dress is strapless – as you can see in the photo I’ve been getting a little too much sun in dresses with straps, this one would produce a much more even tan line! ? If you’re following me on twitter (which you totally should be!), you’ll know how much I was lamenting about my lobster status earlier this week. Well, sunburn aside, I’m happy to be sporting this strapless number because it leaves the opportunity for a necklace that is a statement piece, like this sparkly gold feather necklace.
Even though this dress is strapless, it still has detachable sleeves, which come in really handy in LA. It’s always hot during the day, and the temperature drops at night. So it’s nice to know that if it’s a daytime date, I can be comfortable in a strapless dress. It’s equally nice to know that when the temperature drops at night I don’t have to hide the dress under a jacket, I can just slip on the sleeves and be nice and warm.
I styled this date night little black dress with an old pair of double strap Mary Jane’s so I couldn’t find a link for you, but this pair (under $50) is almost identical. They appear to have just a slightly lower heel, which would be even better than my pair, because a super high heel can be tiring after a few hours.
I love the length of this dress. It’s short and flirty in the front, but it hangs a little longer in the back, so I’m not worried about accidentally flashing my booty to someone who is not my date! ? I feel so comfortable wearing this LBD. It’s the perfect mix of flirty and respectable and I highly recommend checking it out. It’s even on sale right now – you really can’t beat $37 for the perfect date night little black dress!
I think the most beautiful outfits are the ones you feel completely confident and comfortable in, and GUYS, this dress gives me both of those things. It was such a fun shoot because I just felt on top of my game. I can’t wait to wear it out for my next fancy date night. Speaking of a fun photo shoot, I normally shoot blog photos with my boyfriend, but since I’m saving this dress for our date, I shot with a blogger friend of mine so this dress could remain a secret (errrr… until he reads this post, at least!). Her name is Mickey and she blogs over at The Boho Socialite – definitely check out her blog, she’s got really great content!
The last thing I did to make this a polished look for date night is to put on a bold, dark, matte lip. My roommate swears by liquid to matte lipstick, and when I got some for Christmas I had to agree! It’s great because it stays on for HOURS and you rarely ever have to touch it up. I’m wearing one of my favorites for this outfit, it’s the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Victoria. I still love regular lipsticks and lip glosses, but there’s something so magical about the longevity of a liquid to matte lipstick. Plus, this color is just so fun!
And with that, the perfect date night look is complete! Just shake your hair out and you’re ready to go! ? Is there any particular look you love wearing for date night? Let me know in the comments below!
Thank you Tobi, for such a beautiful date night little black dress.
